To me the goal of recording is approaching the magic that can happen live. It has been my lifelong pursuit.

I worked on 48 singles that went to number one but I was never credited…

I worked for what was arguably the most successful record label in history at “creating” recording artists.

I recorded and comped most of Motown’s vocals for a year or so in the original Hitsville studio.
I got stupid good at it from repetition and working with great talent and producers.
Moving on to other studios I didn’t know as well cramped my style big-time.
I could still do a stellar job but it took lots longer although, fortunately, no longer than most other folks.

In the early daze of the internet I used to use the following as my sig:
“Science is all about the creation and manipulation of models for the purpose of learning about and understanding reality. It’s very important to never confuse one’s model with reality itself!”
This was the very first thing our class was taught in high school chemistry.
